The Brown Cow Cafeis located at the Ekonk Hill Turkey Farm, a local New England farm raising free range turkeys. This cafe is family owned and operated and it shows; quality products, excellent food and some delicious home made ice cream & treats are in store with your visit. Now I can rave about the location, ice cream and all the other goodies but it’s the turkey sandwiches which are a big hit with me.
The Brown Cow Cafe just proves turkey is not just for thanksgiving! I’m telling you, you will taste the difference, moist turkey topped with the fixings while sitting outside watching the hummingbirds dance around the hanging flower baskets and the sounds of other riders enjoying the area just screams perfection.
The Brown Cow Cafe is situated along Rte 49 which also happens to be one of my favorite roads and there are plenty more just like it in the area.

Jim’s Dock Wakefield, Rhode Island So the plans are to tour the Rhode Island coast by motorcycle why eat in some stuffy place 6 miles from the ocean? Jim’s Dock is all about atmosphere and you will get plenty of it sitting on the deck watching the boats cruise by. Well, that is if you can get your head out of that bowl of chowda long enough to enjoy the view.
The food is your typical “chowda house” aka clam shack cuisine; lobster rolls, clam cakes & chowder, you get the hint. Also, for your land locked carnivorous friends they’ll be happy to know they can get a burger if they so choose. Jim’s Dock makes a great place to head to if you’re looking to cool off on a hot summer afternoon or to enjoy dinner with some friends after a long day of riding. The last I knew they didn’t accept credit cards so make sure you carry cash with you.

There is plenty to do and see in the area, I highly recommend parking along the sea wall down in Narragansett where you will find bikes and classic cars either parked or cruising by on hot summer evenings not to mention the views of Rhode Island Sound are outstanding… you also might run into some Two Wheel New England riders.
Definitely get some ice cream at Brickley’s in Narragansett… I can smell those waffle cones now

Road Food Friday takes you to a CT Gem called Paul’s Pasta Shop, a recipient of many readers choice awards in CT Magazine. Paul’s has some of the best pasta I have ever had, the pasta is made fresh on site and also sold “ready to cook” if interested in sharing with the rest of the family.A casual, friendly, family type atmosphere gives you the feeling you’re touring in Europe. There is plenty of indoor seating and a nice deck to enjoy a summer afternoon with friends. You’ll never run out of food here since the serving sizes are plentiful and the lobster ravioli is loaded with fresh lobster which is more than filling ( the larger size you will be taking home a box).
Located not far from the coast and situated along the river in Groton makes a perfect spot for those touring route 1 and the CT & RI coastline. The beautiful Rhode Island beaches are all within a quick ride as well as Mystic Seaport and the Groton Sub Museum.
Be sure to check out Paul’s Pasta as it has become a TWNE favorite.

Rood Food Friday – Hope Diner in Bristol, Rhode Island
Once you pull into the parking lot of this long time eatery you’ll know you are in for a treat. Don’t expect a quiet casual place, just as soon as you step through the front door you’ll feel like part of the family. This local family owned diner is a known hot spot and has received lots of recognition including a place on the PBS show Portrait of New England.
During the hurricane of 1938 this lunch car sustained considerable damage from wind, rain and yes automobiles which were floating away from a nearby auto dealership. After rebuilding, the outside of this early 1930’s Worcester lunch car is well hidden but it’s history and uniqueness comes alive as soon as you step inside.
Expect lots of energy along with good food and you will not be disappointed with Hope.

This weeks road food Friday is Stoggy Hollow General Store 492 Rte 198 in Woodstock Valley CT. This hidden gem that is tucked away with some excellent riding in the quiet corner of Connecticut. Click Here For Map
A hearty breakfast, enjoyable lunch or dinner on the way home from some great riding this is the place to take a break, relax and enjoy. Sitting on the steps lets your mind run back to 1836 when this old wooden building was built, you can almost feel this being the epicenter of commerce for this rural community.

I hope you enjoy Stoggy Hollow General Store just as much I did!

Todays Road Food Friday takes you out to Putney VT and home of Curtis BBQ; this is some of
the best BBQ I have had north of the Mason Dixon line. I really love the cucumber salad which nicely compliments the slow cooked chicken and ribs, something about seeing the pitmaster tending the BBQ right out in the open for all to see and smell really makes your mouth water.
There is no doubt in my mind why Curtis claims to be the 9th Wonder of the World – and I make several pilgrimages out to Curtis BBQ for a touch of the south in the great north.
Now let’s not forget we don’t travel on two wheels for food alone so be sure to check out the many covered bridges in the area as well as the many road which seem to be built by the motorcycle god – Rte 100, Rte 9, Dover Road & Depot Road just to name a few.
Enjoy the Ride & See You On The Road

RFF = Road Food Friday – Every Friday I’ll share a worthy food destination, I always look to expand my links of places to stop while out touring so please feel free to share your worthy road food destinations with me as well as your Twitter followers.
Todays RFF destination is a local spot tucked along the coast in Narragansett Rhode Island. Althought the inside seating is fairly small (large groups could be tough to all sit together) its definatley a worthy stop. Best advice for riding in this area is to avoid peak beach time & enjoy the off season.
I’ve been in for breafast but I hear the burgers are outstanding as well !!!
Be Sure To Check Out Crazy Burger in Narragansett Rhode Island our TWNE RFF pick of the week.
